Pien breaks the silence with stirring debut single "Not Yet"

Once in a while, you hear something that makes you want to shut up, stop what you're doing, and listen. "Not Yet," the debut single by Pien, is one of those certifiable moments. After emerging from the shadow of a hauntingly beautiful acoustic cover of U2's Song for Someone at the end of 2024, the London-based artist has firmly found her light, and her voice aches, breathes, and ultimately soars. This time, it's personal.

"Never Yet" is the first offering from Pien's forthcoming debut EP, slated for release on May 23, 2025, and it sets an exciting precedent in the indie-Americana world. It's a stripped-down slow burn, in the sense that it isn't after fast thrills, but instead prefers sincerity to shine. The first verse is pure vulnerability, a naked acoustic guitar and Pien's unfiltered voice, tremulous just enough that you believe it.

The chorus opens up into catharsis, like a storm finally unleashed. Pien doesn't pull any punches while she sings about coming to love after loss, the soul-baring that sounds deeply personal and yet universally understood. Instead, this is not just a story about heartbreak, but it is also about the quiet bravery of hope.

The product of Colin Lanz, later mixed by Charles-Henry Volk, and mastered by Eliott Glinn, "Lots" is as carefully constructed as it is emotionally weighted. There's a restraint in the production that makes each breath and lyric land with full force. Lanz and company know when to put down the tools and let Pien's voice do the dirty work. "Not Yet" proves that Pien is not simply introducing herself, but she's also welcoming us into her world. It's a world of bruised beauty, of quiet resilience, and the kind of storytelling that stays with you long after the final chord.
