Ellie Scrivens has released an exciting new single, "Twenty One"

UK singer-songwriter Ellie Scrivens is breaking new ground with her latest track, "Twenty One."  This release, following her debut 'Wake Up,' showcases a different side to Scrivens altogether: louder, brighter, and more unapologetically direct. Aided by a sprightly pulse and unwavering candor, the track hits like both a call to arms and the exhale of relief, an invitation to anyone who's ever felt the weight of what they "should" be doing to cast it off and pick freedom instead.

Co-written with long-standing collaborator Mike Bayliss and recorded with producer Matt Butler, Paul McCartney / Deacon Blue, at the world-famous Rockfield Studios, "Twenty One" very nearly never made it out of the demo stage. Until Butler heard it and knew right away, it had to be recorded. "We were totally out of zone," Ellie says. "It just felt rebellious."

That word "rebellious" sums up "Twenty One" perfectly, and it's a feel-good anthem with a meatier core. The song was inspired by Scrivens's own crossroads moment, that delicious in-between place when one is stuck between the script society presents for "settling down" but also the thrill of just living for oneself. "It's just about saying no to these expectations that I didn't ask for," she says.

With a background in music, having studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama and the University of Plymouth, and running Studio 250 in the Forest of Dean, Scrivens is music through and through. "Twenty One" Her music comes from a place of personal sorrow and resistance, and it carries an immediacy that listeners can recognize right away. If with "Twenty One," Ellie Scriven proves she's carving out a thematically grounded narrative, then it's a case in point of her saying I'm writing my own story. And for fans yet to travel her path, that is only the beginning.
