Re:O ignite the flames of ambition with "Crimson Desire"

London's newcomers Re:O are showing they have no intention of playing it safe. Its ninth single, "Crimson Desire," is a ferocious mission statement and something to keep them moving forward, but also a warning about the two-way blade of wanting too much. "Crimson Desire" is about Frustration, watching peers get recognition, and feeling like you're stuck on the same level. That Frustration is converted into raw energy, but also into thoughtful lyricism.

Vocalist, composer, and producer Rio Suyama fronts Re:O, supported by James Wright on bass, Jay Stevens on drums, and guitarists Jon Roberts and Alex Carli, and they revel in unpredictability. "Crimson Desire" kicks in with its pounding mix of synths and rock woven into a gritty bedrock before Rio takes over with his dark and devilish growl. The cocksure swagger of the verses leads into an air-punch-driven chorus that sounds destined to spark a crowd to life. Wright presents the song as an anthem to push through, while also offering a chilling glimpse into the fear of losing oneself to ambition.

Instrumentally, Re:O butt up against genre walls. The hypnotic breakdown and climactic return of the hook are enough to color well outside the lines. I don't really want to sit in any normalized genre," says Stevens, and "Crimson Desire" lives up to that enigmatic, futuristic, exhilaratingly unpredictable. With an explosive live show scheduled for September 19th at The Fiddlers Elbow in London, Re:O is excited to bring their sound directly to the fans' ears. If "Crimson Desire" is anything to judge by, the stage is where their ambition burns its hottest.
