FINN’s “Control” balances warmth and uncertainty in a stirring Americana twist

Melbourne-based band FINN is back with their new single "Control," which also sets the stage for their upcoming album of the same name. The song combines real instruments and genuine musicianship, creating an immediate yet reflective feel. It gives listeners a glimpse into a band that isn't afraid to explore deeper themes.

"Control" explores a thought-provoking question: How much of our lives do we truly control, and how much is influenced by outside forces? Instead of giving a straightforward answer, FINN invites listeners to ponder this uncertainty. The song features a dynamic structure where bright melodies contrast with a sense of tension.

The track is warm and inviting. The blend of organ, guitars, and banjo creates a rich, rootsy sound that feels both expansive and personal. This is thanks to the band's experienced members, including Terry Hart, who plays multiple instruments, bassist Jeremy Staples, and drummer Daniel Angelini, whose collaboration brings a natural flow to the music.

"Control" was recorded at Woodstock Studios in Melbourne, with Hart handling the production and engineering. The song has a polished yet down-to-earth vibe, and with the finishing touches from GRAMMY-winning mastering engineer Gavin Lurssen, it sounds clear and vibrant, allowing every part of the song to shine.
