Aimee Nielsen gets gritty with the “Life On Fire - Dirty Ol’ Remix”

Aimee Nielsen takes her previously released song in a harsher, more roots-driven direction. The new version, “Life On Fire - Dirty Ol’ Remix,” has a different flavor, with dirty-sounding guitars, banjo, and fiddle.

Those extra instrumental textures give the remix its moniker. The guitars are gritty, while the banjo and fiddle give the arrangement an earthy character. Together, they conjure a musical setting that is less polished around the edges and more comfy in its rawness.

Nielsen also adds different-sounding singers and new lyrics, making this a departure from the original. Instead of just repeating “Life On Fire - Dirty Ol’ Remix,” it feels like it was intended to give the song a different persona, one that revels in its “Dirty Ol’” character.

The recording was cut in Nashville, adding to the Nashville link behind this release. The remix was recorded at the historic House of David on Music Row in Nashville with acclaimed producer Brandon Henegar, placing it in a place steeped in the city’s musical legacy.
