Scottish Music Awards 2022 Shine Bright for a Good Cause

Glasgow's legendary Barrowland Ballroom as Sir Rod Stewart blasted onto the stage to take over the 2022 Specsavers Scottish Music Awards with an electrifying performance. It wasn't just glitz and glamour that the night had to offer, but there was also heart, purpose, and the power of music to heal.

Rally round to support the Nordoff Robbins music therapy charity, in what was Scotland's music elite and emerging stars coming together, raising a phenomenal £170,000. But at that moment, the man who stole the show was sharp as ever in voice and spirit, the one and only Rod Stewart, who showed all the youngsters how it's done and why he's a living legend.

With decades of hits behind him and that raspy cheeky charm, Stewart brought the house down and served as a reminder as to why he's one of the UK's most beloved talents. For many in the audience, it was a full-circle moment, where a national treasure owned one of the country's most venerated stages.

Though the night was far from a one-person show, Dundee rockers The View oiled things up with a bit of their 'trademark' mid grime and allowed fans to dry clean in time for their sold-out Christmas run in Glasgow. Tamzene's soulful Highland tones wafted around the room, while rising stars Rianne Downey and Dylan John Thomas made an impression. And Altered Images' new wave icons proved once again that they can still hold an audience in the palm of their hand.

From touching tributes to absolute belters, The Mawards Scotland had it all and shows that the country's music scene is alive, well, and doing its bit for good causes. Under the leadership of Rod Stewart, it wasn't a night those in the room will forget in a hurry.
