Tha Muthafunkaholx & George Clinton bring the funk power in all its glory on "Stand!"

Tha Muthafunkaholx arrive loudly reminding us of their right to be as loud as they damn well please. I mean louder than anyone else, especially nowadays, we all want them to sound asleep without headphones or anything in their pockets. With their latest single "Stand!" They stomp two-by-two with giants, I know they got off, but on "Taste A Funk," from their soon-dropping new LP, they heart them for what they are: a beautifully-ugly funked-out chorus.

"Stand!" George Clinton [a.k.a. Dr. Funkenstein] hits on a similar note: you either put your foot down now or never at all, and these cats are broadcasting in big letters! Of course, Clinton sounds immediately recognizable in his vocal cameo, which is a nice touch that only he could get right, adding all sorts of heavy space flavor to the track.

"Tidal Waves" takes that funk and adds more to it, with brassy blurts from horn legends Bennie Cowan Sr. and Greg Boyer, Parliament-Funkadelic alumni, bumping up a solid seam of funky sump and Benzel Baltimore getting into the mix as well with meshed pocket-tight rhythms straight out of the P-Funk heartland. It's raw, it's soulful, and if you can hear this without getting out of your chair to do an Irish jig, you are DEAD inside!

"Stand!" so it wasn't stolen but their way of letting everyone come together, get in a groove, dance & sweat from the depth of your soul ~ Both of the seasoned funkateer and newb, Tha Muthafunkaholx represents something a little hard to swallow. Simply put, this cut is bouncing, and that bounce means a great deal.
