Winter Andrews builds a beautiful ruin with "Babel"

Los Angeles artist Winter Andrews has debuted his new track, "Babel". The single comes as the first track of his debut EP, "Babel". Named after the biblical tower that doomed itself by becoming too ambitious, "Babel" is not afraid of ruin. The song doesn't flinch at betrayal, collapse, or the shamelessness of guilt.

Written by Andrew Winter Gleckler and produced with Kari Kimmel and David Thomas Junior, the song is an exercise in contained devastation. There is an open honesty in Andrews' voice that sounds less like performance and more like confession. His delivery is weighted with the truth he's attempting to unravel, one where love has a way of turning ugly and survival means facing death.

"Babel" is also profoundly personal. Andrews wrote the song for the first time seven years ago, kept it in his head until he had the right words. "I kind of felt like, if I can make this song work, then there's nothing I can't do," he says. That long wait is audible in every note, and the sound of someone finally taking the chance to sing the words they held back.

On "Babel," Winter Andrews sets a benchmark in his career, demonstrating that sometimes destruction is the most concrete foundation for beauty.
