Dutch superstar DJ Martin Garrix has reunited with his longtime partners in crime, Matisse & Sadko, to deliver their new collaboration, "Butterflies," now available via STMPD RCRDS. The song, which showcases the vocals of Greek-American singer-songwriter BARBZ, also marks the trio's first music release together since their 2021 hit "Won't Let You Go." "'Butterflies' is the centerpiece of Garrix's eagerly awaited upcoming EP ORIGO, a project that the producer says will be "the final missing piece" in his trilogy of club-focused releases.
Just as its title suggests, the song exudes a feeling of joy and revolution. At the same time, BARBZ's enchanting vocal performance is laced with an emotional weight that floats melodically above Garrix and Matisse & Sadko's soaring production. The result is both familiar and fresh, a reminder of why this team has become one of the favorites among fans in the electronic realm. The song was written by Aleksandr Parkhomenko, Barbara Argyrou, Josh Mclelland, Martijn Garritsen, Peter Mark Hammerton, Sam Merrifield, Shaun Farrugia, and Yury Parkhomenko.
While production came courtesy of Garrix and Matisse & Sadko themselves, together they succeed in questioning melody with tension for a sound that's as big as the festival stages it's built for. Additionally, the track features a music video captured during their earth-shattering set at Tomorrowland 2025. The visual further cements "Butterflies" as both a celebration and a testament to perseverance. On "Butterflies," he demonstrates that, sometimes, even endings can give birth to something beautifully alive.
