Buffalo Traffic Jam hits vibrant gold with "Fool's Gold"

Buffalo Traffic Jam, the American folk duo with a raw sound, has released their latest single, "Fool's Gold." Frankie Cassidy, on vocals and guitar, and Nathan Ross, on guitar and mandolin, create the universal tension between desire and necessity in a track that straddles the line between folk song and arena rock anthem.

The track emerged from a week-long isolation in Bozeman, Montana, for Cassidy, an experience that gave rise to the song's heartfelt narrative. As Cassidy tells it," So often we think what we want is what we need and put emphasis on the things, people or places that our own insecurities lead us to perceive as necessary, "Fool's Gold" digs into this complex idea and follows the story of someone who has convinced them self that they know exactly what they need in order to grab a hold of happiness, all while realizing towards the end of their journey that all they really needed was some time alone.

Producer Ryan Hadlock contributes a pleasing landscape of sound as session players on cello, drums, and bass work to bring the song depth without overshadowing its emotional center. The result is a song that somehow manages to be hopeful, one that is quietly intoxicating in its storytelling power and lingers long after the last chord fades. With "Fool's Gold," Buffalo Traffic Jam shows that they're mapping the emotional landscapes we all know but rarely manage to articulate so beautifully.
