Hudson Westbrook reflects on “Pretty Privilege” in his raw, heartfelt country return

Hudson Westbrook is back in the solo game with his new track “Pretty Privilege”. Along with his debut album “Texas Forever” and a collaboration with DJ Marshmello on “Better Man Than Me,” Westbrook shows off once more that he’s a storyteller who knows how to infuse honesty, heart, and a little bit of grit into his songs. The song’s blend of charm and sincerity feels like energizing new ground for Westbrook as a solo performer.

Co-written with her longtime collaborators Beau Bailey and Lukas Scott, who also produced the track, “Pretty Privilege” arrives sounding characteristically Westbrook, grounded in classic country storytelling but glossy enough to sound of the moment. The lyrics are intimate, a feeling that Westbrook is calling listeners inside for a brief glimpse at a personal moment, while the instrumentation toes the line between twang and contemporary clarity.

Fans got their first taste of the song at Cooks Garage in Lubbock, Texas, where Westbrook also debuted the music with a classic 1956 baby pink Dodge Custom Royal. The music visualizer, directed by Emma Kate Golden, evokes some of those memories and realness as well. “Pretty Privilege” is a reminder that when Westbrook wants to, he knows how to reach his audience through narratives that feel lived-in and real.
