TiLT 360 hits an emotional note with new single “Last String”

The time off only seems to have sharpened their edge, as the proof is in this latest offering, “Last String” by TiLT 360. Billy Smaltz for vocals/songwriter, Heather Jurina for drums, Drew Salzano for bass, and Jason Miller for guitar/songwriter, the Y-Towns rock vets, share a new track that manages to sound both primal and polished, a result of decades-long creative chemistry. “Last String” is a rock song and more than that.

“Last String” sinks its teeth into you and never lets go. Smaltz’s voice comes through with a gritty, emotional transparency that is only the result of years of honest, hard work in music. This is a song that feels like a confession whispered from between determined teeth, an honest reflection on our life’s breaking points and the resolve to hold out just long enough for things to get less unbearable.

Jurina’s drumming gives heart to the song as it unfurls like a foot-stomping heartbeat of sheer determination, Salzano’s bass lines crackling and deep provide a soulful undertone sufficient to reach right on down into the groove itself. The ace in Miller’s deck here is his guitar work, which provides a connective tissue to the collection, threading melodic tones that also range from haunting to hopeful.
