Krooked Kings turn a new leaf with idealistic indie-rock single "Rancher's Daughter"

After a rebirthing period, Salt Lake City indie-rock band Krooked Kings unveil their latest single, "Rancher's Daughter," ushering in a new chapter for the band. On this release, the Kings are confidently turning a page into a chapter of truth and sound, shunning distracting trends and external noise. Recorded in Los Angeles with renowned producer Yves Rothman, "Rancher's Daughter" is a melodic rumination on unrequited love that is both grounded and emotionally haunting.

Ranging from emotional lyrics sung by Oliver Martin to explosive guitar playing by Paul Colgan, and heartfelt keys played by David Macey paired with hard-hitting basslines from Matt Monosson and Quinn Casper's driving rhythmic patterns, the song's sound meshes together in such a way that heartbreak simultaneously feels lonely yet shared.

Co-written by Macey and Marinelli with Wei, Monosson, Martin, Colgan, Casper, and Rothman, "Rancher's Daughter" is a poignant piece of grown folks' real talk about pining away for something you can't seem to have. Aside from the music itself, "Rancher's Daughter" marks a philosophical change for Krooked Kings, one where the music is the priority.

The track is an invitation to see a band re-learning to express itself as what it really is, stripping away artifice and embracing craft. "Rancher's Daughter" isn't just a missive to unrequited love, it's a statement of authenticity from a band committed to writing the next step of their legacy with depth, openness, and something that lingers after the echo of the final note.
