Ice Nine Kills transform Gotham into a stage of madness with "The Laugh Track”

On their latest release, “The Laugh Track,” Ice Nine Kills again demonstrate they’re the masters of marrying horror and heavy metal in a way that is cinematic, chaotic, and unforgettable. In this electrifying homage to the manic smile of Tim Burton’s classic 1989 Batman film, sharing a parallel universe with its offspring, last year’s chart-topping The Silver Scream, Ice Nine Kills captures that same sense of chaotic fun and dreadful imagination, along with their most intense onslaught to date.

From the menacing opening strains, frontman Spencer Charnas presides over the mayhem like a ringmaster of a wicked carnival, his voice alternating between malevolent snarls and melodic venom. Guitarists Ricky Armellino, Dan Sugarman, and Miles Dimitri Baker cut through the verses with deadly accuracy – a trio of variations more sharp and precise than Gotham’s own bat-signal piercing the night sky. The rhythm section of the bassist Joe Occhiuti and the drummer Mike Cortada set a pulse that sounds like a chase through an alleyway, taunting, relentless, and thrilling.

Written by Charnas, Drew Fulk, Eric Bass, Occhiuti, and WZRD BLD, Tarren Beach, the song is a love letter to bad guys, chaos, and theater itself. But more so, “The Laugh Track” is Ice Nine Kills being what they do best, the blur between movie and music, performance and inspiration, madness and rock. Featuring haunting orchestration, razor-sharp lyricism, and a dark, gritty clip inspired by the macabre, Ice Nine Kills’ chilling track is a Joker-worthy anthem that will have you screaming for more. It challenges listeners to laugh along with madness as the world burns down around them.
