Krooked Tongue saddle up with new anthem “Drugstore Cowboy”

Bristol’s alternative rock band Krooked Tongue are back, and they have recently released their new single, "Drugstore Cowboy" lifted from their forthcoming debut album "I Know A Place" due on April 24th through limited edition vinyl, the track is a bold, swaggering step forward for the trio, Oli Rainsford (lead vocals/bass), Dan Smith (guitar/vocals) and Harry Pritchard (drums).

The band recorded with the band’s longtime producer Josh Gallop at Stage 2 Studios in Bath, “Drugstore Cowboy” wastes no time tossing the  listener into a wild, downtown chase. It’s all snarling riffs, pounding drums and vocals that pierce through like sirens in the night. Co-written by all three members of the band, Smith, Pritchard and Rainsford, the song operates effectively on a tension-and-release model that mimics the thrill or wreckage of a life lived at full tilt.

Partially inspired by Gus Van Sant’s 1989 cult movie "Drugstore Cowboy", the song feeds that reckless yearn for a hit, where self-awareness failed to obliterate destruction but instead accepted it with almost stubborn acceptance.

“Drugstore Cowboy” is a rock anthem that sounds like gunslingers calling to shoot their way out of whatever honky-tonk they’re mired in. Underneath, it’s a knowing reflection on human frailty, and the odd freedom of taking possession of it. It’s a riot and a reckoning, an adrenaline rush with the stamp of truth.
